Hey, everybody! It’s Friday in Dunedin, and I’m back in your inbox with everything you need to know about what’s happening locally, including news on…
- The entrance to The Honu’s new look.
- A fundraiser to benefit the Wines the Blues Festival.
- A free program on confidence and empowerment for teen girls.
But first, today’s weather: A shower and thunderstorm. High: 90 Low: 80.
Here are the top 3 stories today in Dunedin:
- Casa Tina is hosting a fundraiser to benefit Dunedin Saves The Blues on Sept. 11 between 5 and 10 p.m. The event will include live entertainment, wine tastings, raffles, and more! A portion of all sales will be donated to the Dunedin Merchants Association to help them pull off this year’s Dunedin Wines the Blues Festival! (Casa Tina via Facebook)
- Meet the artists whose work is currently on display at The Business Hub of Dunedin on Sept. 21 between 5:30 and 7 p.m. Curated by Evelyn Dufner, the exhibit includes work by regional artists Fred «Rootman» Woods, Patricia Kluwe Derderian, and Patrice Pfeiffer. Attendees will learn about each artist’s inspiration while viewing their work and enjoy light refreshments. Those interested must register online at the link. (Dunedin Chamber of Commerce)
- Hope Grove Dunedin is offering a free 9-week Teen Self Discovery & Empowerment Program for girls between 14- and 18-years old beginning Aug. 23. The program will create a safe, supportive place, where girls can build confidence and develop a sense of identity. Attendees will learn to «Write Your Own Story» as each session includes journaling based on themes such as developing a positive self-image, self-care, coping with stress, battling peer pressure, strengthening relationships, finding your voice, and dealing with difficult situations.
